Aura's Photographs

Aura begins by taking Luna's portrait in front of a display of pumpkins, a popular Halloween symbol.
Aura's Halloween Costume
It is a custom here to celebrate Halloween on October 31st, the day before All Souls Day. Children and some adults, dress up in costumes and go trick-or-treating to get as much candy as they can.
Aura, infront of a giant spider's web, sets out with her camera to photograph the Halloween fun in our neighborhood, the East Village.
Day of the Dead Altar
Here at the Girls Club, we celebrate The Day of the Dead by adding flowers, mementos and photos of deceased family members to the altar at the American Indian Community House. This is a time to celebrate our love for them.

Today on 10/24/06 we took pics of our feet. It was very fun. I took this pic because I wanted to show that we had warmer shoes then you because it is cool here. I wanted to also show you that there can be different kind of shoes. We also saw your hands so that’s why we decided to take pictures of our feet. I wish I could be there because then we wouldn’t have to be cold here.
Hoy en 10/24/06 tomemos fotos de nuestros pies. Fue muy divertido. Tome este foto porque quise ensenar que tenemos zapatos mas gruesos que Ustedes porque hace fresco aqui. Quise ensenarles que puede haber varios tipos de zapatos. Tambien veimos sus manos y por eso decidimos tomar fotos de nuestros pies. Deseo que pueda estar alla para que no tuviera que tener frio aqui.

Today we took pictures of our feet. It was really fun taking pictures of each other’s feet. Our shoes are warmer than theirs because here it is really cold so we have to use boots and sneakers. It only gets hot when it is summer. We took pictures of our feet and it was really funny. We saw the pictures of your hands. They were really nice. I like the motions you did in with your face.

We took pictures of our feet. We wear boots and sneakers because it is cold outside and we need them to protect our feet. In Chiapas it is hot outside so they don’t wear heavy footwear.

Today we took pictures of our feet because we saw your pictures and it gave us the idea of doing our shoes on feet. That bracelet in your picture was really nice. We use those kind of shoes because it is cold over here. I guess it is really warm over there so I think there’s a lot of people wearing sandals.

I took these pictures of Taina’s feet in the park across from the Girls Club. I took one sideways. The photographer (that’s me) took pictures of Taina’s feet because girls in Mexico wear shoes or go barefoot so we’re showing them what shoes we wear in winter.
