This picture expresses another side of me that nobody really knows i have.
Although at times i might seem as this loud and obnoxious girl, i often find myself on my knees reading the Bible. By doing so, it helps me keep in touch with my spirituality which is essential for me to have a sane life.

Aunque hay veces que soy una nina muy sobre saliente que haces mucho ruido, casi siembre me puedes encontrar de rodillas leyaendo la Biblia. Haciendo esto me ayuda tener un encoentro con Dios. Pra mi es essencial para vivir sana y en paz.

This is the two people that came together to form the "Infamoustai". I owe them my life and i will be forever in debt with them. Mom and Dad thank you for giving the best life you could provide. Although at times it got rough for me, i wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you!

This is one of the people who helped me keep my faith when i felt that all hope was gone , my mommy. Just when i was about to let go God took over and turned my negative into a positive. Without my moms prayers i don't know where i would be.

I think that for me prayer has been my motivation to continue to perservere. Without prayer I don't know what I would have been or what destructive path I would have chosen.

Para mi la oracion he sido mi motivacion para continuar mi carerra. Sin la oracion yo no se que yo ubiera hecho o que camino destructivo yo seguiria.

For my Digital Diary project, I chose to take pictures of things and people who mean the most to me, especially my friends and family.
I choose this project because I'm not a very expressive person, so this was one particular way I could express what I felt and my gratitude.

The Lower Eastside Girls Club Flamenco Dancers at their yearly performance.

Las muchachas más bajas de Eastside aporrean a bailarines de Flamenco en su funcionamiento anual.

Editing Digital Photographs

Jennifer , Girls Club member and Chiapas Project participant, edits her work in the office of the Girls Club. She is going off to college in September but will return to meet with our sister Maya AFI photographers when they come to New York in October 2003 to finish the Chiapas Project.

Jennifer , muchachas aporrea a miembro y el participante del proyecto de Chiapas, corrige su trabajo en la oficina del club de las muchachas. Ella se está apagando a la universidad en septiembre pero volverá a la reunión con nuestros fotógrafos de Maya AFI de la hermana cuando vienen a York nueva en octubre de 2003 acabar el proyecto de Chiapas.

Gowns for Girls

These Girls Club members look beautiful in their new gowns. Every girl felt like a princess for a day at the sucessful "Gowns for Girls" event in its second year here at the Lower Eastside Girls Club.

This is a photograph of Juana and Xunka walking along Essex Street with their umbrellas opened during their visit to New York City 2001. We are very happy that they will return in October 2003 with more AFI photographers.

Si ya está terminado el tejido de una prenda. Se pone en una piedra para reducirlo a pie y darle muy constante el agua. Hace poco que aprendieron de reducir a pie, antes reducían a manos.
When the weaving of a garment is completed, to tighten it, it is placed and soaked in water. It is beaten with feet in order to reduce it. Previously this process was done by hand.
