Hi, my name is Anyah Smith. Most people call me NeNe or cookie monster. I love music. People call me cookie monster because I love cookies. I am 10 1/2 and in the fifth grade. My mom’s name is Rasheeda. My dad’s name is Steven. I live with my brother, Tyrese, my mom, my dad, my granda and my aunt. I have a cat. Do you have pets? I love purple and blue.
I was born here in New York City. I am black and Spanish. I have 4 brothers. I want to become a nurse, teacher, lawyer or actress. I go to the Lower Eastside Girls Club. I am studying fashion and photography. The Girls Club is FUN! I have a lot of friends there. All of the people who work there are very kind and sweet. The girls are too!
My name is Lee. I am nineteen years old and going to college in the fall. I enjoy all kinds of arts, I have already been privileged enough to have visited San Cristobal three times, this stay will be my fourth. I cant wait to see everyone that I have met and those who I haven’t yet.
My name is Nora. I am also nineteen years old and will be attending school in the fall as well. Like Lee, I love the arts which is why I can’t wait to meet all of you creative girls. This is going to be my first time coming to Chiapas and I am so excited to learn more Spanish and be inspired by the people there and the places I will see. We will be meeting very soon and I hope you’re as excited as I am!
Chiapas, Mexico was a beautiful place that we got to experience. We learned about their culture, their style, and their language. The architect was built a specific way for the Mexicans. There were many beautiful little houses with bright colors and open patios to keep cool on a hot sunny day. The sidewalks were so narrow we had to walk in single file to get to where we were going. The sidewalks are extra steep to prevent the streets from flooding from the heavy rain during the rainy seasons. You can tell the little town is very old and built traditionally with concrete and bright colors. We were also really impressed by some of the house’s big wooden door ways and the interesting doors knobs. All of Chiapas was a beautiful sight and we are grateful that we got to see it! Not everyone gets to have a wonderful experience like we did together. Brittany Baez
